Apex Legends: Core, Freestyle or the Firing Range?
Pick a session that matches what you want to learn, from a new Legend to competitive squad play.
Choose the kind of session
EA separates Apex Legends into Core and Freestyle experiences. Core contains Ranked and Unranked, while Freestyle includes options such as Wildcard and Mixtape. These are meaningful ruleset differences: EA describes Wildcard as a streamlined experience with changes to looting, Legends and weapons. When watching a guide, identify its mode before assuming that every mechanic shown will apply to the session you are about to play.
Give practice a specific purpose
The Firing Range is the official practice area for testing weapons, ammunition and Legends. Use it to answer one concrete question, such as how an unfamiliar weapon handles or what a Legend ability does. Then choose the mode in which you want to apply that knowledge. If you want to learn the Core experience without changing your ranking, EA identifies Unranked as the corresponding option.
